Disintegration Tester
A Disintegration Tester is a specialized analytical instrument designed to measure how quickly solid dosage forms such as tablets or capsules break down into smaller particles under specific conditions .It provides standardized, repeatable, and time-based results, making them essential for pharmaceutical quality control, regulatory testing, and formulation development.
How it works ?
The device works by placing samples in a basket rack
assembly immersed in a temperature-controlled liquid bath. The system gently
moves the samples up and down, simulating physiological conditions. The time it
takes for each tablet or capsule to completely disintegrate is recorded,
helping ensure the product dissolves properly once ingested.
Disintegration testing is widely used to evaluate a variety
of dosage forms, including:
- Immediate-release
tablets and capsules
- Coated
and uncoated tablets
- Fast-dissolving
and orally disintegrating tablets (ODTs)
- Nutraceutical
and herbal supplements
- Generic
drugs (for equivalency studies)
- R&D
and stability batch testing
