Friability
Friability tester evaluates the mechanical strength of tablets by measuring their resistance to abrasion and breakage. Tablets are placed in a rotating drum that repeatedly lifts and drops them over a fixed period and rotation count. After testing, the tablets are reweighed to determine mass loss, expressed as a percentage of initial weight. The device provides fast, repeatable results with high accuracy, making it essential for quality control in pharmaceutical manufacturing to ensure tablets withstand handling, packaging, and transport without significant degradation.
Friability testing is essential in industries where solid dosage forms must meet strict handling and durability standards, including:
-
Pharmaceuticals :Pills and tablets
-
Supplements: Vitamins and nutraceuticals
-
Fertilizers : Pellets and coated seeds
-
Detergents & Cosmetics :Compressed powders and tablets
